DIY: Ukulele Leash and Gig Bag

How to make your own Ukulele strap and gig bag from scratch:

I just bought a Ukulele as a birthday gift for my nerdy hubby. It was a concert ukulele from Makata. However, it didn't come with any accessories like a gig bag and a strap. So, I made one for him. The bag was shaped from his old levi pants and ornamented with some of his NASA badges. Here are some pictures of  the finished product.

With the Ukulele leash, it was personally designed by my weird jack of all trades darling. He called it a Binary Islander T-neck Strap because the beads represent computer bits or binary digits. If you are also a nerd person, figure out the code and post your take in the comment below. Good luck!

He also made a two tone-cobra stitch and a snake stitch Ukulele Shoulder Strap. The $2.97 parachute cord has a fusible outer sheath which is water and mildew resistant. It is lightweight, flexible, and can hold a max of 550 lbs. Just like the neck leash, this shoulder strap comes with a riddle. If you can decode it, please also post it in the comment section.

BTW, the Ukulele binary islander leash can also be used as a shoulder strap.

Materials:
3 parachute cords (36 in)
wood beads

*DIY Hacks:
plastic hook
plastic buckles
old denim pants

Total Cost: $2.97

*The DIY accessories were cannibalized from my hubby's salvaged collections.

How to convert one chord to another chord eg, C to G:
Chord Inversion / Conversion Chart
1. In the chart above, the notes in C scale is C,D,E,F,G,A,B with CFG as major and Dm,Em,Am as minor.
2. The notes in G scale is G,A,B,C,D,E,F# with GCD as major and Am,Bm,Em as minor
3. In the C scale, place both major/minor notes under the roman numerals as shown below.
3. In the G scale, place both major/minor notes under the roman numerals as well.
4. Now, IF the four chords of a song are C, Em, F, C; in the C scale, the equivalent roman numerals are I, iii, IV, I.
5. To transpose C,Em,F,C, to G-chords, use these numerals I, iii, IV, I and plug in its equivalent chords from G.
6. In this case, the equivalent chords from G scale are G, Bm, C, and G.

7. Thus, the C major chords: C, Em, F, C are now converted to the G major chords: G, Bm, C, G respectively ( C, Em, F, C = G, Bm, C, G /or/ Cmajor = Gmajor).

The example below is a chord inversion from the song Moon River:
C,Am,F,C /
F,C,Dm,G /
C,Em,F,Em /
Am,D,Em,F,G / ...
